Environmental Stewardship
Our environmental initiatives are tangible, measurable, and integrated into our daily operations.
We recognize that air travel is a significant component of our services. In partnership with an accredited Indonesian environmental organization, we calculate the carbon emissions for every client’s air and ground travel. We then invest in certified carbon offset projects, such as the Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve project in Borneo, which protects peatland forests and supports local communities.
We have a strict policy against single-use plastics within our operations. Our clients are provided with reusable water bottles, and our fleet of vehicles is stocked with water from glass bottles or filtered dispensers. We also preferentially partner with hotels and villas that have demonstrated a strong commitment to eliminating single-use plastics.
We are a proud corporate sponsor of the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, Bali. A portion of our profits directly funds their marine conservation training programs and the protection of Bali’s vital coral reef ecosystems. We also offer our clients exclusive, educational visits to the CTC to learn about marine biodiversity.
Over 95% of our Bali-based team members, from our drivers and guides to our senior management, are Indonesian nationals. We invest heavily in their training and professional development, ensuring they receive fair wages, comprehensive health insurance (BPJS), and opportunities for career growth.
We actively seek out and support local businesses. The amenities in our vehicles are sourced from Balinese social enterprises, the snacks we provide are from local producers, and the cultural experiences we design often involve direct engagement with local artists and craftspeople in villages like Mas (woodcarving) and Celuk (silversmithing).
We believe in celebrating and preserving Bali’s unique culture. Tokyo To Bali is a patron of a local gamelan sekaha (orchestra) in a village near Ubud, providing funding for instrument maintenance and youth training programs. This helps ensure that these vital artistic traditions are passed down to the next generation.
